The DBJ Angel Fund leverages Angel Investor’s investments to support innovative, scalable start-up stage businesses registered in Jamaica. The Angel Co-Investment Fund matches the investments made by approved Angel Investors. DBJ will commit US$2 million to the DBJ Angel Fund and provide matching investments between US$50,00 and US$100,000 per round to start-up stage MSMEs/investor teams who meet eligibility and investment criteria.

DBJ Angel Fund Details
How it Works
An example of how it will work: John, an Angel Investor, has committed to investing US$50K in Company X. Â John and Company X can apply jointly to the DBJ Angel Fund for a matching investment. If Company X meets the eligibility criteria, and both John and Company X pass the due diligence assessment, the DBJ Angel Fund would make a matching investment of US$50K.

The DBJ is seeking to support innovation-based, scalable, high growth potential start-ups in Jamaica by partnering with high-net-worth individuals who want to invest in them.Â
This is an opportunity for founders of these start-ups and for potential angel investors who can take a “smart capital” investment risk while seeking the rewards of patient financing of the next group of Jamaican innovators and business titans.
Angel Investors taking the lead on a deal involving a qualifying start-up company in any of the targeted industries may apply to the DBJ’s Angel Fund for designation as a DBJ-Approved Angel Investor and for the Fund to co-invest in the deal. This designation includes due diligence checks involving background screening of applicants.  Successfully passing these checks will enable the award of the DBJ-Approved Angel Investor designation, and allow the investor to apply to the Fund, in partnership with the investee start-up company.
